A one-day, CPD-certified course for senior leaders on governing AI and leading people through the change
Most leaders are now responsible for AI decisions they were never trained to make. Which tools to allow, what data can go where, which suppliers to trust, and what to tell the people whose roles are changing. Leading Through AI is one working day that gives you the governance to make those decisions safely and the leadership judgement to carry your organisation with you. You leave with a set of working templates and a 90-day plan, not a slide deck.
Format 1 day, 09:30 to 17:00, live over Microsoft Teams
Cohort 10 to 12 delegates
Price £450 per delegate, ex VAT
Funding Eligible Welsh employers can claim up to 75% back through the Welsh Government Flexible Skills Programme for training completed by 31 March 2027, bringing the cost to £112.50 per delegate
CPD Certified, certificate 900273
Who it is for
Senior leaders and leadership teams responsible for how their organisation adopts AI. Chief executives, operations directors, heads of function, and anyone who will be asked by a board, a client or a regulator how AI is being used in the business. No technical background is needed, and none is assumed.
The question it answers
How do we govern AI and lead our people through the change.
How the day runs
The day is co-facilitated throughout by Oliver Smith FBCS, ScaleAround’s founder and a former CTO and VP Engineering, and Sarah Williment, our organisational development associate. One of us leads the technology and governance, the other leads the people and the change. No screen session runs past 60 minutes without a break.
09:45, Where you actually are. An honest read of your organisation’s current AI use, including the tools already in use without anyone’s sign-off.
10:30, Governance foundations. Which UK regimes and the EU AI Act apply to you, and how to tier your real AI uses by risk.
11:45, Leading the change. Where your organisation sits on the change curve, Keith Grint’s tame, critical and wicked problems, and when to manage, command or lead.
13:30, Judgement, roles and capability. Where a role’s value sits as AI arrives, how to read resistance, and what happens to jobs.
14:40, Deciding well. Scoring AI use cases against each other, and the red flags to look for in a supplier.
15:20, Making it stick. An operating model for AI in your organisation, and a 90-day plan.
The day opens with a 15-minute welcome and closes with a 40-minute plenary.
What you take back
An AI acceptable use policy template. An AI risk assessment methodology. An AI use case register. A supplier AI due diligence checklist. An operating model sketch. And a 90-day plan with three dated commitments, written by you on the day.
These are the same tools we use on client engagements. They are built to be filled in and used, not filed.
The longer programme
Leading Through AI is condensed from ScaleAround’s full 6-module programme, which covers the same ground in more depth and can be paced across whatever timescale suits an organisation. The day works as a standalone, or as the first step into the full programme. Ask us about either.
Welsh Government funding
Through the Flexible Skills Programme, eligible Welsh employers can claim up to 75% of the cost of accredited AI training, up to £50,000 per application, for training completed by 31 March 2027. Leading Through AI is CPD certified, so it qualifies as accredited training. The employer pays the full fee first and claims the funding afterwards, and the decision on eligibility and award rests with the Welsh Government. We will send you the guidance when you book.
Private delivery
We also run Leading Through AI privately for one organisation, with the exercises tailored to your sector and your actual AI uses. In-company delivery is quoted separately. Tell us your numbers and we will come back with a price.
Book your place
Open cohorts are booked per seat. Tell us which cohort and how many people on our contact page, and we will confirm your places and send the joining details and the funding guidance. You will need a Teams link and a browser. The standing rule for the day is to bring the task and leave the data behind.
If your team also needs to get better results from the tools themselves, pair this with Practical Prompt Engineering. Both courses are described together in our launch post, and the governance side draws directly on our AI governance work.
Frequently asked questions
Is Leading Through AI CPD certified?
Yes, certificate 900273. That accreditation is what makes it eligible for Welsh Government Flexible Skills Programme funding.
How much does it cost with the Welsh Government funding?
£450 per delegate ex VAT, reduced to £112.50 for an eligible Welsh employer claiming the 75% contribution. The employer pays first and claims back, subject to Welsh Government approval.
Is it online?
Yes. The full day runs live over Microsoft Teams, with regular breaks and no screen session longer than 60 minutes.
Do I need to be technical?
No. The course is for leaders, and it is built so that a non-technical executive can govern AI confidently and brief a board, a client or a regulator on it.
Can we run it just for our leadership team?
Yes. Private delivery for one organisation is quoted separately and can be tailored to your sector and your real AI uses.
